Killing cyclones
CYCLONES or centrifugal dust collectors are air purification systems that consist in the preliminary treatment of the contaminated current for the partial abatement of pollutants.
Cyclones are abatement systems which, without the use of moving parts and using suitably shaped inlets, allow to separate the contaminating particles; these precipitate by gravity and are deposited in a container until the next treatment phase.
Ideally, a cyclone can be represented by a cylindrical structure with a funnel-shaped outlet, consisting of an inlet for the gas to be treated and an outlet.
Usually the contaminant is collected at the bottom of the device while the treated gas comes out from above (conventional configuration). The ability to treat particles with more or less fine granulometry depends on the diameter of the cyclone.
